Gothic Design, Bondage and Lace; OH MY!!!

Wednesday, 28 December 2011 10:50 by iddy

So, I've decided that most of the items I have in mind are not exactly stuff other people will produce.  On top of that, with Exile out and never coming back, anything local to Richmond is a lost cause.

So, I’ve taken to the task of learning to craft my own leather products.  Now, mind you, there is nothing really “crafted” per say as much as taking products made by other people and assembling them myself in a unique way.  Take a piece of leather here, a belt buckle there, some spikes or loops, add some gems, some glitter, some lace… and bam…. a new product that people might want to buy?

Buy you say?  Yea, whatever, not going into this as a money making adventure.  More of the idea:  I’ll make stuff I want, try to not lose too much money into it, and if I come out the other side selling a few to random people… GREAT….

Identity Guard SUCKS

Tuesday, 4 October 2011 11:33 by iddy

2 hours on the phone today because their website sucks.  Visit https://secure.identityguard.com/LogonForm in an attempt to log in and choose forgot user id and password, system prompts for questions, and then gives you a phone number to call.  Why waste my time, why not just immedeatley give a phone number and be done with it.

Transferred 6 times because each person didn't know how the website worked.  Finally got to web services, they simply (paraphrased) "we are unable to identify the issue, you will have to call back each month you forget your user id and password.  we can, however, cancel your account".

At least they credited me my 14.99 back (unconfirmed).

Credit Bureau's Actual Mailing Addresses

Wednesday, 13 July 2011 12:18 by iddy

Two days and about 15 hours of work I finally have the mailing addresses and phone numbers for the credit bureau's in which to send certified mail.  Hopefully this will help someone else out.

I swear these bureau's are just a racket.  They get your information, charge you 30 dollars to see your scores, then they probably sell your information to other companies.  Ugg.

Richmond needs to retake Drivers Ed !

Thursday, 7 July 2011 15:07 by bitty

Richmonders don't seem to know the rules of the road anymore, nor do they have common courtesy when it comes to situations that require putting themselves in a situation that may cause them some inconvenience.  I continue to run into situations where people, young and older, go against basic rules-of-the-road.  Sometimes it's knowingly other times it's an obvious lack of knowing the actual rules.  From scissor-merges to bike-rules, from 4-way-stops to walking on the road.

There seem to be inconsistencies depending on in which part of town you're driving also.  In Lakeside it seems people believe bikes should stay off the road and ride against traffic while walkers are supposed to stay on the side and walk with traffic.  I have almost been run off the road on my 10-speed when I ride with traffic and "Gasp!" attempt to ride in the left lane in preparation for a left turn ahead.  There is one individual who insists on honking his horn at me and yelling out of his truck window every time he comes across me riding with traffic, whether or not I am actually in his way.  I haven't yet found his truck parked anywhere, but once I do I will make sure to drop off my pamphlets detailing the real rules of bikes on the road for him to perhaps look over in the hopes he may realize his actions are inappropriate (to say the least).

Today there was an accident on Parham Rd., the right side had to scissor merge with the left while allowing cars from an off-ramp to also merge... sounds simple, everyone scissor-merge & by taking turns we all will eventually get through.  Inevitably however there are those who feel their space is being infringed upon and insist on ridding the bumper of the car ahead of them refusing any merging into their territory - as if it's a directly disrespectful affront to them personally.  So, the situation turns from manageable to chaotic as one person does it causing others to follow suite.  Eventually there is no merging and a back-up stopping traffic for miles.

What about the stop-lights that go wonky or the circle through which you have to round-about.  I know you have experienced when one line continues until finally a courteous driver stops to allow the other direction a turn, usually receiving several rude-honks in their general direction for stopping the flow.

In so many situations I too get frustrated, cuss a bit - I then start imagine getting out of the car and handing those individuals certificates of Idiocracy "Congratulations, you're an idiot!" - and then pondering the circumstances that would follow (lol).  At least I can bring myself down from anger mode by making fun of the situations, sarcasm can be a good thing... but in all reality it's unfortunately getting worse.  So use your brains out there friends - because most likely the idiots around you aren't using their own.

Best coffee in Richmond, VA? Waffle House. What?

Monday, 27 June 2011 08:41 by iddy

So, I've quit drinking coffee for nearly a year.  Well, by quit, I mean I went from 10 to 12 cups a day (and by cups I mean 10 to 12 large 42 to 64 ounce big gulp sized mugs not originally intended for coffee) down to one a month or one every other month.  So my taste for coffee have reset themselves.  Thus, drinking a cup of coffee is a treat now instead of a daily requirement for energy, life blood, and keeping my tryglicerites above 500.  I find myself thinking about the taste of the coffee and I am astounded to find that no matter what coffee I try (iceed, vietnam/thai ice blend, expresso, lattee, black, cream and sugar, roasted, french, dark, hazlenut, burnt black god of death) they all suck compared to Waffle House's basic coffee with two 1/2 and 1/2's and 5 packs of sugar (Tupac for President 2012).

Anyone got an explanation other than my taste buds suck?

BowTie Theaters in Richmond VA make me sad

Monday, 25 April 2011 10:32 by iddy

So, we get to Bow-Tie and decide to watch Hop.  Purchase some tickets at 5:00 for a 7:15 showing and show up prepared at 6:30.  The lady tells us that they're not seating at the moment, but that they will make an announcement later and we should try back around 7:00.

So, come 7:00, the girl's mouth moves, but the noise in the auditorium means that people in line can probably not hear her, much less anyone sitting where the seats are.  If she had a bull-horn we MIGHT be able to hear her.  So, minus this pathetic attempt at letting people know what is going on, there is NO clock anywhere for anyone to use.  So, if you decided to leave your phone in the car since you didn't want to go through the hassle of turning it off, you're just f'd trying to figure out what time it is and you can forget about being able to hear what the "announcer" is saying.

Ugg, I loved the quality of Bow-Tie, but guess we'll keep going to Virginia Center Commons since at least they have a clock and a board to let you know when a movie is seating.

Bioware's Dragon Age 2 FAILS

Wednesday, 9 March 2011 07:26 by iddy

So, got Dragon Age 2 yesterday in the mail from Amazon.com on pre-order.  $70 shipped.  Thought to myself: This will be fun.  I enjoyed dragon age origins and the xpac, the reviews about DA2 are that it sucks, but hey, as long as they didn't change the engine, it will be fun.

So, what did they do?  They changed the engine.   Dragon Age 2 should be renamed Final Fantasy: Dragon Age 2.  Holy crap.  IT SUCKS.  engine is new, graphics are laggy, and locking?  My PS3 froze 5 min in, again on char creation (or lack there of: specifically appearance), froze again when I entered the slave city, froze again when I attacked the merchant to become a smuggler, froze again when I helped my acquiantance save her guard friend and froze a final time when I went to the lower city at dark to find another guard.  And by final time, I mean 1 hour in and 4 or 5 freezes I decided it was time to turn off the system before I broke a controller.

The graphics cut and chop.  It's HORRIBLE.

At least, there is one redeeming factor.  ENCHANTMENT!!!  He's back and right at the start.

On a scale of +1 to +10 with +10 being great, this game is a -33 for freezing and a -88 for playability.  Story wise, it's still up in the +10's.

Sucks I'll have to play it to the end for the story.  Hope I don't break my TV in the process of frustration.

Microsoft MVC 2 ActionLink/RedirectToAction got it backwards

Thursday, 24 February 2011 09:33 by iddy

So, I'm sitting at work today throwing out yet another

return RedirectToAction("Action", "Controller");

and for some reason this really pisses me off.  Let's say you're visiting http://iddybittybits.com and you are going to update a post.  You're going to likley hit something like iddybittybits.com/admin/posts.  However, MVC wants you to provide a  return RedirectToAction("Action""Controller"); which then translates to  return RedirectToAction("Posts""admin");

This really pisses me off because I have to stop coding, sit there for a moment and think about which one is the controller and which one is the action.  forget throwing in route values.  Atleast you can organize them in any order you want.

Mens clothing in Richmond, VA sucks

Monday, 31 January 2011 11:57 by iddy

Ok, so I want a pair of dress pants.  I'd prefer not to pay 200 dollars a pair, but at this point 200 a pair is a fair price considering anything less just pisses me off!

Seriously, Macys, Dillard’s, Nordstrom, Target, Wal-Mart, and Express for Men....  /cry

I have gone to virtually every store, popping into the likes of Abercrombie and Bitch and all they have are these pants that are rough to the touch.  It's like, "hey, come here baby and jump on my lap so you can instantly have rug burn and I’ll take you to the hospital", "oops, I accidently touched my pants and now I can't use my hand".  They all suck.  I have 2 pair of George pants from Wal-Mart that are soft, and nice to the touch.  Wal-Mart shouldn't be on top by any means.  However, all the rest are... well, might as well be sandpaper.

Blah, I'm too sensitive.  Where's my bubble bath.
